  1. The industry is still a sham. They charge so much while medical insurance only covers a small amount per hearing aid. We should be responsible for just the co-pay.

I have been wearing a hearing aid for the last 11 years since 2011, I turned 21 and I remember the cost of that one custom hearing aid for me is $1,200.00 because I wanted an in the canal for vanity sake no way to see it, I will never forget first time turning it on and hearing the secretary typing on her computer 3 rooms away.

  3. Look up this article.

"Frequency Therapeutics says they’ve already given the treatment to more than 200 people, and seen significant improvements in patients’ hearing in three out of four clinical trials. The therapy is long-lasting – hearing has been improved for nearly two years in some cases – and it comes in the form of a single injection into the inner ear, making it much simpler and quicker than alternatives like gene therapy."

  4. I need hearing aids, but the audiologist who performed my hearing test will not allow me to pay for them out of pocket, because I have Medicare and Medicaid. I have to go to someone out of network, tell them that I do not have insurance, and HOPE that I can get funding for the Bluetooth hearing aids that I desperately need.

  8. There is a company, new to me, named Audicus, that sells hearing aids over the internet. The hearing exam is done over the computer with ear phones. I did mine with just my iPhone. Not even any ear buds. They have a membership plan that has 3 levels of cost. The basic level is $49.99 per ear, per month. That covers everything repairs, everything. Every 18 months you get a new pair!! I have the mid level, just received them. For $118.00 per month I have my hearing aides for both ears, plus all the needed equipment, & the charging case so I don’t have to pay for or mess with batteries. The charging case is an extra $10.00 a month per ear. Well worth it to me! The batteries are tiny, hard to handle, expensive & need to be changed every 2-3 days. At least they did on my old ones. These hearing aids are relatively affordable, you don’t have to take out a loan to get them and as the technology improves, you get a new pair every 18 months. No contract to be locked into. If you don’t like them or decide that you can’t afford them, just return them and you are done with it. How about that?!? I think it is a fantastic deal!!
