Thanks for the very informative videos I stumbled upon trying to learn about custom ear molds. Can you personally do ear molds for online customers?
Thanks Norm
I about a month from now, I will be getting my very first hearing aids and they will be the More 1 miniRITE R. If after the adjustments for fine tuning them for my hearing loss, can I get molds made at that point? Also, my work requires ear plugs to be worn during the work day but obviously I can't use them any more. Will putting OSHA approved earmuffs over these effect the hearing aids in any way? thank you
I really like the RIC style, and slim and small. Is there BTE that has smaller tube? I know there difference btw RIC and BTE: wire and tube. I had BTE to begin with then transition to RIC because I like the smaller design. Lately I've been getting ear drainage and its causing my receiver damaged multiple time and I am consider going back to old school BTE but I wanted the smaller hearing aid like RIC.
Can you get micro shell mold with embedded receiver with Kirkland 10.0 HAS
Too bad the wax filter isn’t easy to fix instead of sending it in.
Dr. Cliff, my right cochlear is significantly shot, and my Tinitus and burning pain in both ears has been going on for 7 year’s. I’m pretty much depressed and isolating.
The Neurologist I went to a few year’s ago ordered a test : BAER?
The results stated I had significant issues going on.
I continued to wear in the canal/tips for 20% better hearing and never heard back from my Neurologist.
I assumed it wasn’t a huge issue, and now I am not sleeping due to tinitus and burning pain in both ears.
I see a new Neurologist soon, and if I could ask him two questions, what would you recommend?
I have two Grandchildren under 5 years of age, and I almost have lost all of my hearing.
The two ENT Doctors knew about the burning 8 year’s ago.
??? Is an Otologist someone I should see at this point?
Thank you and I enjoy your videos and knowledge.
Kathy
Bought hearing aids for my wife at Costco. They work great. But she can’t where them very long because they hurt her ear canal. What style or kind would be more comfortable?
How can I find out who makes the MIcroShell earmolds near me? Have a perforated eardrum & they won't use the paste on me 🙁
I have little space behind the ear. Does the MicroShell Earmold have a receiver that fits in the ear? How can I compare prices before I make an appointment
Hi What can be the cause that the voice of a person, once processed by the More, is heard as distorted for some seconds? thank you
This is so interesting (and a testament to the fact that hearing aids are not one size fits all)! I recently tried the Oticon More hearing aids with the MicroShell earmold and I could NOT get them to stay in my ears! Admittedly, my ear canals are super tiny (ask any one of my AuD cohort 😂) but they just did not work for me at all. After some extensive trouble shooting and soul-searching my audiologist and I decided to actually go with a full BTE and skeleton mold for retention, especially because I literally could not care less about the cosmetic subtleties of RICs as long as they work well for me! If you're wondering, I went for the rainbow glitter earmolds, lol
I have Oticon More 3s, my loss is on the high tone side. I have earmolds but so far I hear feedback, chattering and vibration in the left one pretty constantly. And they are so uncomfortable! Would the embedded ear molds help?? Audiologist has made several adjustments and we replaced the receiver twice and the speaker once. I can't do domes the feedback in unbelievable.
Great video. Looking forward to increasing my knowledge of these new Oticon hearing aids.
I found Dr Cliff's Utube channel and this be a good start.
In previous days past I would need the FAQ written for first time user.
Now it's internet Utube/etc search to find that gifted person such as Dr Cliff.😊
All the best

Can you use this micro shell moulds with mild to moderate hearing loss? I like how they fit so flush on the head / ear and being custom fit will stay in the ear. My current open dome on my Resound Linx have never fitted well, they are always coming out of the ear and don’t fit flush. I am about to replace them with the Oticon More 1 and am thinking to get them with this custom micro shell mould.
Can't find the link to occlusion video. I have had the More 1 hearing aids with custom molds for 8 days now with fitting/tutorial appt and then an appt to tweak HA because I was getting a phase shifter effect when I spoke or sang. That has mellowed out but I still feel like I just have ear plugs in. My own voice is much lower than someone who is talking to me and it's weird. I explained this to my AUD but it hasn't improved on changing frequency settings. She did make the vent ever so slightly bigger. I have 30 days but I am still on the fence. It has always been hard for me to sit in a perfectly quiet office to tweak then go out to the real world and expect the HA to be adjusted for me. Frustrated!
Have molds. The air channel in the right one was so small, I couldn’t get into them to clean them. Had to bring the back to my VA audiologist and have it drilled bigger. Did this affect the build design?
What is the difference between MicroShell and the MicroMold? Are micromolds the same as the LiteTips, where the receiver is separate and manually connected to the mold after it's made? Thank you!
Dr Cliff, I love your videos and your dedication to your trade. I was an application engineer for 30yrs for industrial motor control technology. I too was a total geek about understanding products, their capabilities and making sure they performed to 100% of their capability! “Thats good enough” was a total trigger for me! As part of my degree I took a in physics of sound, a 200 level course, but it REALLY gave a good foundation to understand the issues. The course was listed as Physics of Stereo and HiFi. First day the instructor said, we tricked all of you! It’s physics of sound, but since I’m using a pioneer receiver and speakers for demonstration, I didn’t lie 😂 ( class enrollment doubled after they changed the name ). I thought you might enjoy this story. One demonstration he set up a standing wave, had all of us moving heads back and forth…. Then he said…. I put a sign on door that says… looking at all these idiots in here rocking right to left! 😂 what an awesome professor he was!
Here is my question, I’m an engineer so these things always in my head …..why can’t the Oticon units be mfg in a way that the receivers click in and out?
I wish you were closer, I had a canal wall down procedure on one ear, severe but non linear loss. Other ear is more typical moderate to severe category. They are recommending a BAHA for canal wall down, but the recommendation is from an ENT surgeon.
Dr Cliff Olson – I thoroughly enjoyed your presentations. I just got hearing aids from Costco Canada. The custom earmold supposed to help me hear better but I feel very plugged. How can I improve the experience ? Or do I just learn to live with the feeling. I had the hearing aid for a month.
Thanks
Paul
I do have the More 2 Aids and I have this type of mold. They are very good I can[t tell I have hearing aids in.
Have Bluetooth connectivity
Changed my Like and Subscribe. Don't know if all good hearing aids have to be device-activated? Don't want that
Where does oticon get their parts in USA or overseas
But why, in heaven's name did the not put the same removable wire on their 85 dB MicroShell receivers as they have on their 105?s There's got ( I would hope) to be a logical explanation. I missmeasured this aforementioned patient's pinna length and had to send the whole thing back.
I placed my first pair of MicroShell's on a patient the other day. He previously had LiteTip's on his previous set of Oticons. His face lit up like a Christmas Tree
Will these work with the Oticon Opn S1?
Can this only used on Oticon more. Or can it be used for opn s1. I probably have two years before I can get new hearing aids from the VA. By then there should be even more substantial improvements to hearing aids. No matter the brand.
Will the experiments benefit Sensorineural Hearing Loss ?
Thx again Dr. Cliff for keeping us on the front end of HA updates & information. I am picking up my Oticon More HA’s this Friday. I don’t know who is more excited, me or the wife lol.
I have got my more 3 trial with custom ear mold on my left this December 1week, first I was fitted only with some type which didn’t do any good. It is good so far, but sometime when my left ear comes close to wall or something blocking my left ear then there is a noises going on like kooo keee peeep it’s funny…
Dr Cliff, I have Meniere's, right ear and a 75db loss in the left. Just recently got Oticon More 1's. Tried custom molds, huge occlusion. Now using a silicon "semi custom" mold. But moving them slightly in or out makes a huge difference in speech recognition, depending on the environment. Would the Microshell embeded molds help? .
@doctor Cliff, AuD i am trialing the oticon more at the moment, i did a trail with the phonak paradise after the oticon more with the activent but could not get on with them because i have small ear canals which made them very painful, was using the smallest rubber vent . The sound on them when streaming music and Tv was better than the oticon. I also had other problems with the phonak they would not connect to the phonak app on iPhone half the time and they where always activating siri with the slightest touch when i put my glasses on or taking my face mask off. The audiologist gave me the oticon more back to try again over Christmas and am going to make my choice in the new ear. I have two questions would the microshell be ok with small canals and would the sound be similar to the activent. The other problem i have is my ears become very itchy at times.
Thanks Dr Cliff! Always enjoy your videos! I have A mold like that in my Left ear which is my very bad ear! I wonder if I would benefit from a mold like that in my ear. I have lost a significant amount in my Right ear since being fitted with my Oticons. I have a question about my aids though. Lately, I have been getting alot of noise when I stream on my Ipad. Its like a ticking noise, in one aid or the other. Its intermittent. I went to my Audi today and she is sending mine in. However, I have a loaner pair, but they do it too. It doesn’t happen when I’m streaming on my phone, just the Ipad. Ant ideas why? Its very annoying!
All my hearing aids stick out from my ears even my latest which is the original octagon mini I always feel like the cyborg men in doctor who so always try and cover the up ! This sounds great but keep waiting for latest inventions as hearing I got have terrible whistling and octagon sorted that out with their octicon more so lost out x
fck hearing aids dude we need some treatment for tinuits
Thank you. I currently have a set of More-1's with domes – double vented bass – on my receiver. I have been very unhappy with the amount of distortion I hear when listening to music, so these molds sound very appealing. If it matters, my loss is moderate in low and mid-range frequencies but severe approaching profound in higher frequencies. Would my audiologist need to send my aids to Oticon to have the micro shell molds added, or once the molds are made, can the receiver be inserted into them in the audiologist's office?
Thank you for your information. Merry Christmas and happy new year💕👍🏻👏🏼
How does the Oticon Microshell earmold compare to to the Phonak C-Shell?
Thank you for this update. I currently use the Oticon More
So doc you got a favourite CIC hearing aid or an ite hearing aid?
I have Oticon ear molds and I absolutely love them more than the behind the ear hearing aids. I have a question for you Dr. Cliff, the warranty is up on my hearing aids next October, do you think it’s worth it to spend the money to extend the warranty?
Thanks for the information! I am going to ask my audiologist about these. You mention some considerations to the vent size. I have pretty profound loss of hearing above 2K HZ ( about 70 db loss) and almost normal below that due to noise damage. My previous audiologist was somewhat against earmolds because of the blocking of natural bass hearing.
As an Oticon More hearing aid user I would be interested in getting this. I love it.
Thank you for that information !
I love when you give the pros and cons. A great wealth of information and I hope you and your family has a wonderful Nre Year and wish you happiness , prosperity , and most of all good health !
