Am I going to have tinnitus for the rest of my life?

Am I going to have tinnitus for the rest of my life? Can it go away? Apparently it can last for months at tops if it’s temporary, but once it’s there for about a year, it doesn’t go away? Someone correct me if I’m wrong, from their own experiences…
